About the Event
What is Kokedama?
Kokedama is a Japanese style of "potting" indoor plants using moss instead of a pot. In English, Kokedama literally translates into "moss ball".
In this workshop we will show you how to make your very own Kokedama and tell you about some of the various techniques used to make them so you can continue experimenting at home. Everything you need to make a Kokedama will be provided in this workshop including:
• Various plants for you to choose from (1 per person)
• All of the ingredients you need to make your own Kokedama "soil"
• Soil recipe for your Kokedama
• Moss
• Twine, string or fishing line to wrap the moss ball and hang for display
• A glass of wine and light snacks will be included in the cost of the ticket.
We'll have a sink to clean up after you've made your Kokedama but since you will be mixing dirt with your hands, it is recommended that you dress accordingly. Red clay is used in the soil mixture and the natural minerals in the clay may stain clothing. Feel free to bring an apron or smock with you to protect your clothes if you feel like you might get messy.
When booking, please let us know who you will be attending with so we may plan tables accordingly. This workshop is recommended for adults only. We're working on some events for our younger plant-lovers and we'll be posting those to the calendar soon.
