Scientific Name: Monstera adansonii 'Indonesian Mint'
Common Name: Indo Mint, Variegated Swiss Cheese Plant
Native to: Cultivar
Family: Araceae
*This plant is considered toxic.
Light
Thrives in bright indirect light (a view of the sky but not the sun). Not suited for direct sun as leaves can burn.
Water
When the top inch of soil is dry, saturate with enough water so that water runs through the bottom of the pot. Never allow the soil to completely dry out and don't water too often that the soil becomes waterlogged, always test the soil with a chopstick before watering. Since Monsteras are epiphytes with aerial roots, they are sensitive to overwatering, so they don’t want to sit in soggy soil. They thrive in chunky soils for this reason.
Tips
- Rotate often to ensure even growth.
- Add a moss pole or trellis as they grow so the plant will be supported.
- Adansonii prefer medium to high humidity. Use a pebble tray or humidifier to increase humidity.
- Fertilize once a month during the spring and summer.
Toxicity
This plant is considered toxic.
