$1.00Price

This plant produces long narrow leaves and look beautiful in hanging baskets. Under the right conditions, mature hoyas can be quite prolific and develop beautiful clusters of fragrant star-shaped flowers that resemble fireworks.

Botanical Name: Hoya Kentiana

Common Name: Wax Plant, as are all Hoyas.

Native to: Philippines

Family: Apocynaceae

*This plant is not considered toxic. However, hoyas have sap that may trigger a reaction with folks that have latex allergies.

  • Light

Thrives in bright indirect light. Not suited for intense, direct sun as leaves will burn. Early morning direct sun from an eastern-facing window should be tolerated and may even benefit your plant.

  • Water

Water when the soil almost completely dries out to around 90% or so. Hoyas are very sensitive to overwatering or water-logged soil. Err on the side of underwatering vs. overwatering.

  • Tips

    • Hoyas will produce clusters of star-shaped flowers. Don't cut the flower stem once the flowers are spent. Leave them as this is where the plant will flower from in the future! Do not attempt to move your hoya once in bloom, they are sensitive to change during this time and might drop the flowers.
    • Fertilize once a month during the spring and summer.
  • Toxicity

This plant is not considered toxic.
